Kloofzicht Lodge

Nestled at the foothills of the Zwartkops Mountains in the Cradle of Humankind, Kloofzicht Lodge is the essence of tranquility and ultimate luxury, a comfortable 40 minute drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Guests entering the luxurious Kloofzicht Lodge are greeted with the stunning vista of endless stretches of water as the infinity pool spills over into the Kloofzicht dam, finally settling into the Zwartkops mountains in the distance.

Kloofzicht comprises ten superior suites, 20 executive suites and 12 family/ executive twin suites, overlooking six exquisite fly fishing dams and the lower reaches of the Blaauwbank Spruit , which meanders through the unspoilt  Zwartkops gorge. The five star  conference and wedding facilities satisfy the needs of even the most discerning guests.

The small but magnificent nature reserve upon which Kloofzicht is built, is home to kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, springbuck, gemsbok, zebra as well as a fascinating array of bird life. Kloofzicht is home to the Bells Fly Fishing Academy.

The stylish contemporary décor of Kloofzicht's Restaurant presents a perfect canvas for sophisticated A la Carte dining at night and extensive buffet lunches on lazy Sundays. Ever so popular for light meals during the day is the Little Foot Restaurant– a firm favourite for watching sport on the big screen or cozying up next to the log fire with a port or red wine.

'Little People'
'Little People' are always welcome at Kloofzicht Lodge. On arrival at Kloofzicht Lodge, all 'Little People' receive a Welcome Pack, which contains lots of goodies to help keep them entertained. We know ‘Little People' can't possibly eat as much as Big People and a special kiddies menu including items such as pizza, toasties and pasta is available upon request. A babysitting service is available at an additional charge, however, please be aware that off-duty staff who have experience with children will be used for this.

Game and walking trails
The small but magnificent nature reserve upon which Kloofzicht is built, is home to kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, springbuck, gemsbok, zebra, giraffe as well as a fascinating array of bird life. Pack your hiking shoes, walking stick, binoculars and bird book and enjoy terrific views from the top of the mountain or take pleasure in the unspoilt nature within the Blaauwbank Spruit ravine.

Fly Fishing
Kloofzicht boasts with a fly-fishing academy and the experience of a lifetime awaits you, regardless of your level of expertise. Trout, bass, carp and the ever- elusive yellow fish will provide you with hours of entertainment and the opportunity to unwind and relax. For pure relaxation, please contact reception for more detail. Remember to stop by our fly fishing shop in reception – if you ever wondered what a ‘Woolly Bugger' is, you will soon enough have the answer! Serious anglers or corporate enthusiasts may be interested in membership of the Bells Fly Fishing Academy.

Still not enough to do?
Other recreational facilities include archery, hot-air ballooning and spa pampering next door at Chicama Country Spa at our sister property – Glenburn Lodge. Within close proximity to Kloofzicht are the Rhino and Lion reserve, Wonder Caves, Sterkfontein Caves, Kromdraai gold mine and two golf courses.

With sweeping views over the Zwartkops mountain range and fly fishing dams, Kloofzicht Lodge epitomizes five star luxury in a relaxed country environment. A combination of textured interiors, sandstone tiles, majestic mahogany and bold warm fabric colours are carried throughout the interior of the lodge. All suites have en-suite bathrooms and the Family Suites have underfloor heating and heated towel rails.

Executive Suites
Perfect for Executives, these 20 spacious suites are one-level rooms overlooking the valley and Kloofzicht Dam. The room consists of a king size bed (or two twin beds) and leads onto a small patio with drop down blinds to secure privacy. A built in oval bath, single vanity, heated towel rails and indoor shower that leads out onto an outdoor shower with private garden makes this a firm favourite with executives and business travelers.

Superior Suites
Built on a split level, each of the ten Superior Suites has a separate lounge with fireplace. The king size bed with crisp linen and mosquito net creates an ethereal effect and is popular for romantic getaways. The bathroom boasts with a luxurious oval bath, his and her vanity, heated towel rails and underfloor heating. A private deck overlooks the Mulberry dam and Zwartkops mountain range in the distance.

Family Suites
Overlooking either the Kloofzicht Dam or rock pool, each family suite has a king size bed as well as two single beds. The room has been designed to accommodate families or conference groups, in which case the beds will be split. Family Suites lead out a small patio with drop down blinds to secure privacy. A built in oval bath and indoor shower leads onto an outdoor shower with a private garden.

Bird life is prolific and varied, and regular sightings include White-backed Night Heron, Broad- tailed Warbler, Jameson's Firefinch, Red-headed Weaver and the elusive Short-tailed Pipit. Large raptors such as the Martial Eagle and the African Hawk Eagle soar over the mixed broad-leafed woodland and rocky outcrops, scanning for prey, while scenic walks may bring an encounter with Klipspringer, Chacma Baboon, Mountain Reedbuck and, with luck, Serval.
